Kunstbunker bij Castricum — The Milkmaid
Micro guerilla art in the Noordhollands Duinreservaat by Kasey Smith
A tiny model vignette of The Milkmaid made on top of a large baroque pearl
A guerilla art drop near the Kuntsbunker in Castricum, This is the location where much of the Rijksmuseum collection — including Vermeer’s painting The Milkmaid — was stored during the first half of WWII. Within walking distance of my house, I wanted to celebrate this site for it’s role in preserving the history of Dutch art, as well as for the chance it affords to conduct interventions in a more natural context.
